  • Lucara, the Canadian mining company operating the Karowe mine in Botswana has announced the recovery of an exceptionally large 2,492ct diamond. The mine is renowned for exceptional and large diamonds of high quality, including the the 1,758 carat Sewelô and the 1,109 carat Lesedi La Rona.

  • Gem Diamonds is on a roll as it announced the recovery of its 9th 100ct+ exceptional rough diamond this year, a 145.55ct Type II white, at the Letšeng mine in Lesotho, the highest dollar per carat diamond producing mine in the world.

  • Gem Diamonds has announced the recovery of an exceptional 172.06ct Type II white rough diamond, the seventh 100+ct diamond recovered at its Letšeng mine this year alone. 

  • Gem Diamonds, who owns 70% of the Letšeng mine in Lesotho, has released its Q1 2024 Trading Update, which showcases robust operational and sales performances from January 1st to March 31st, 2024.

     

    Key Highlights from Q1: 

  • Phillips auction house in Hong Kong has announced that it will hold its Jewels and Jadeite sale on Nov. 27. The event will be putting some of the rarest diamonds (both colored and colorless), Burmese rubies, vivid yellow diamonds along with other items on the ballot. The highlight of the auction is a brilliant-cut 26.12 ct. unmounted diamond that’s expected to fetch between $2.3 million and $3 million. Not only is the stone considered the most chemically pure of all diamonds as a type IIa, it’s D flawless, which is regarded as the most coveted of the colorless diamond spectrum.

  • Auction house Sotheby’s announced they will auction ‘The De Beers Cullinan Blue’ - one of the most valuable blue diamonds ever - in April.
