  • Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) of New York has moved to the International Gem Tower on West 47th Street in New York City, from its longtime home at 580 Fifth Ave, debuting its new trading floor on the occasion of the seventh India Diamond Week. More than 60 exhibitors and several hundred buyers were on hand for the event, organizers said. It was organized by DDC in conjunction with India’s Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council.

The DDC's new home will be approximately 17,500 square feet on the 11th floor, including a new open trading floor with state of the art technical facilities, cafeteria and break area, according to a statement.

  • The 47th Street Business Improvement District in New York is holding two New York Police Department (NYPD) led seminars for the jewelry and diamond trade to learn how to respond to shooters and terrorism awareness. The seminars will take place on August 29 at 576 Fifth Avenue, JCK reports. “Particularly in light of the many violent events the world has recently experienced, these timely seminars by the experts at the NYPD will be valuable for everyone in the jewelry industry,” the 47th Street Business Improvement District said.

  • The Diamond Dealers Club of New York (DDC) has announced that it will launch a new initiative at the Las Vegas JCK show, by displaying DDC members’ goods in one place. The DDC has organized booths for individual trade companies at previous shows and this will mark the first ever DDC booth showcasing a wide collection of goods from its many members.

The event is being held from January 18 to January 21. The trading event is one of several such inter-bourse shows held around the world, and is jointly organized by the DDC and India's Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council.

  • The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council in association with the Diamond Dealers Club of New York will hold the 4th India Diamond Week from January 18 to 21 at the DDC premises. Around 15 Indian diamond companies will be participating.

  • The Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) of New York is expanding its arbitration services and is to offer help to members in settling disputes with non-members. Members will be able to put an acceptable arbitration clause into their memos, invoices, and letterheads, the DDC said.

  • Celebrity jeweler I. Friedman & Son is one of many jewelry tenants moving as the famed New York Diamond District continues to be redeveloped by real estate baron Gary Barnett, according to the New York Post. Robbie Friedman, whose grandfather I. Friedman founded the company in 1922, said its longtime location at 10 W. 47th St. is one of many being bought by Barnett, a former diamond merchant, whose, Extell Development company is involved in luxury real estate.

    The buyers' fair is held in partnership with the Diamond Dealers Club of New York and the Antwerp Diamond Bourse (Beurs voor Diamanthandel), and the exchange announced that other bourses belonging to the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) may attend the event for the first time.

  • The Antwerp World Diamond Centre will be travelling to Chicago from April 17-20 where AWDC partners with the Chicago SMART Jewelry Show, and New York from April 21–23 for the New York Diamond Week. A series of networking events have been organized in both cities, creating the opportunity for Antwerp diamond traders to establish contacts with American jewelers and diamond traders. The New York Diamond Week is one of the most important events in the American jewelry and diamond market.
