Lucapa Diamond Company, which only two weeks ago commenced its commissioning of the 1.1Mtpa (million ton per annum) treatment plant at the high-quality Mothae kimberlite open-pit diamond mine in Lesotho, will be holding its first ever tender of Mothae diamonds in Antwerp, starting November 12. The Mothae treatment plant, which incorporates two XRT diamond recovery circuits, will be ramped up to its nameplate capacity throughout the December quarter. This will see Mothae increase its tonnage progressively to 90,000 tons per month over the fourth quarter of 2018, putting them in a position to treat 1.1 million tons for 2019. CEO Stephen Wetherall has called Mothae a "very special pipe. It is a low-grade, high-dollar per carat environment, like Gem Diamonds’ Letšeng mine, and like our Lulo."

Tender house Bonas-Couzyn sent us the following press release for publication:

Mothae (Lucapa) Inaugural Antwerp Tender - November 2018

Lucapa Diamond Company (ASX: LOM) and Bonas-Couzyn are delighted to announce the arrival of a new production for tender in Antwerp: the Mothae mine from the Kingdom of Lesotho.

Mothae is located in the diamond-rich Maluti Mountains within 5km of Letseng, the world’s highest US$ per carat kimberlite diamond mine. Lucapa owns 70% of the high-value Mothae kimberlite project in Lesotho in partnership with the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho (30%).

The inaugural sale from Mothae brings to market the most recent bulk samples from the mine and includes, among other things: an 89.77ct gem single, some IIA top white gems and several fancy colors, including small light pinks, as well as around 4,000cts of regular ROM product.

This exciting new source will then come into mine commissioning and full production by the end of this year, ahead of regular ROM production tenders with Bonas-Couzyn in Antwerp in early 2019.

Viewings for MOT-1801 are scheduled to take place from Monday 12th November – Friday 16th November 2018 in Bonas Couzyn’s office on the 9th floor of the Diamantclub Building.

The MOT-1801 sale will close on Monday 19th November 2018 at 3 PM Antwerp (CET) time and will be an online highest bid tender via
