Later this month Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels spring sale in New York will feature a 33.25-carat, D-flawless pear-shaped diamond pendant-necklace, topped by a marquise-shaped 1 carat diamond, with a high estimate of $5 million.
Other magnificent jewels include an array of colored-diamond jewelry. A 7.01-carat, fancy intense pink, SI2-clarity diamond ring with a high estimate of $5.2 million, and an emerald-cut ring, 7.37-carat, fancy intense orangey-pink, VS1 stone was valued between $3 million to $5 million. Blue and yellow diamond rings are among the lots. The auction will be led by a cushion-cut, 52.89-carat Cartier blue sapphire and diamond ring estimated at between $125,000 and $150,000.
Signed jewels by Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, David Webb and Buccellati are presented, in addition to a stunning diamond and emerald necklace by Tiffany & Co., formerly from the collection of Betsey Cushing Whitney. Sotheby’s will also feature estate jeweler Fred Leighton’s personal collection in The Jeweler’s Eye auction, which will be held directly after the Magnificent Jewels sale on April 18. Fine Jewels will follow on April 19. Previews for all three auctions will commence in New York on April 13.
