The International Diamond Week at the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) officially opens today in the diamond trading hall of the bourse, with hundreds of buyers from overseas participating in the event, the IDE said. CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri will carry out the official opening of the buyers' week, which runs until February 18, and later will sign a statement of purpose for the establishment of the Israel Diamond Jewelry organization. Later on Monday, a panel will address the issue of marketing diamonds. Guest of Honor, jewelry designer Stephen Webster, will be on the panel together with former Managing Director of Rio Tinto Diamonds Jean Marc Lieberherr, Chairman of the World Diamond Mark Foundation Alex Popov, and Executive Director of the World Diamond Council Patricia Syvrud.
The IDE will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers Association on February 17, and the following day Gemological Institute of America (GIA) President and CEO Susan Jacques and Tom Moses, Executive Vice President and Chief Lab and Research Officer, will officially open the organization's new laboratory.
