The International Institute of Diamond Grading & Research (IIDGR), part of the De Beers Group, announced a polished diamond grading service partnership with Hong Kong-based jeweler Lukfook. The first partnership with a vertically-integrated Sightholder.
The co-branding with IIDGR’s polished diamond grading reports allows Lukfook “to offer our customers an added layer of assurance,” said Mr. Wong Wai Sheung, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Lukfook Group. The grading services employ De Beers’ proprietary technology "which provides a magnified image of the light performance pattern of each diamond" as well as highly skilled and experienced gemology experts. Currently the program is offered in the Hong Kong and Macau retail stores, with the potential to expand to other areas in the greater China region.
“As customers continue to seek ever-greater confidence in diamonds, we are seeing increased demand from major diamond jewelry retailers for the innovative solutions that IIDGR can provide,” said Jonathan Kendall, President of IIDGR. “This new initiative with Lukfook highlights the rapid international growth we are seeing in the business and we look forward to a long and successful partnership.” Lukfook is now the second Asian retailer, following Singapore’s Soo Kee Group, to establish a grading partnership with IIDGR.
