The International Institute of Diamond Grading & Research (IIDGR), part of The De Beers Group of Companies, announced its first retail partnership in Asia for its generic polished diamond grading services. The partnership is with the Soo Kee Group in Singapore, which formally launches in February for the retailer’s bridal brand, Love & Co., for its Lovemarque diamond collection. Each Lovemarque diamond will bear the inscription of Love and Co.’s rose hallmark as well as IIDGR’s unique identification number.
According to the press release, the Soo Kee Group will be the first Singaporean retailer to offer IIDGR grading reports, backed by 100 years of De Beers Group diamond experience, leaving the consumer feeling confident with his or her purchase. The generic grading service was launched early last year, and focused specifically on reliability, integrity, consistency and repeatability. The grading services employ De Beers’ proprietary technology as well as highly skilled and experienced gemology experts.
“We’ve seen a significant uplift in demand for our grading services in many markets, especially in the Far East – alongside the Soo Kee Group partnership, we have plans to expand the grading service elsewhere in Asia,” said Jonathan Kendall, President of IIDGR. According to Kendall this is just the beginning, as there is an increasing demand from retailers who have expressed their desire to implement these diamond grading reports, “as they understand the importance of integrity in their offer to consumers – and with its use of leading De Beers technology, IIDGR is perfectly placed to provide this.”
IIDGR issues Diamond Grading- and Identification Reports for unset, natural and untreated diamonds weighing at least 0.10ct. The Institute grades every clarity and all colors, including fancy colors.
